The Queen’s University Archives contains major collections focusing on university records, public affairs and business, literary papers, and regional collections. It includes private papers of physicians, politicians, professors, as well as the papers of Kingston institutions and departments at Queen’s University. Notable private papers include those of Dr. Thomas Gibson (1865–1941), Professor of Pharmacy and Therapeutics and Professor of the History of Medicine and Jason Albert Hannah, former Queen’s student and founder of Associated Medical Services. The Archive also contains the records of Kingston General Hospital, journals from Kingston Psychiatric Hospital, and the Sunnyside Children’s Centre fonds (formally the Orphans’ Home and Widows’ Friend Society). The Queen’s University School of Medicine and the Queen’s University Hospital records have been donated to the Archives.
The Archive also contains photographs, sound recordings, and film, which is searchable through the catalogue online. Some of the images can be viewed online.
