The Museum of Health Care at Kingston holds more than 30,000 artifacts that date from the late eighteenth century to the present, including medical, surgical, and laboratory instruments, commemorative objects, patient care items, and ephemera. Special collections include the Crawford Canadian Dental Collection and the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada. The collection can be searched or browsed by topic on the Museum’s website.
The Museum also provides online exhibits. Current online exhibits include “Fighting for Breath: Stopping the TB Epidemic,” “Vaccines and Immunization: Epidemics, Prevention and Canadian Innovation,” and “Making Medicare: The History of Health Care in Canada, 1914-2007.” The Vaccines exhibit includes historical information and material regarding a variety of diseases.
The Museum of Health Care also offers the Margaret Angus Research Fellowship.
