The S.J. McKee Archives houses records related to Brandon College (1899-1967), Brandon University (1967-), and local municipal records related to topics like agriculture and health studies. Archival materials are housed within the main library.
Amongst the university records, this archive houses records (7.5 metres in assorted mediums) of the School of Health Studies (1900-1989), which includes the records of the School of Psychiatric Nursing at the Brandon Mental Health Centre, the Dean of Health Studies, the Health Studies Faculty Council, and publications of the School of Health Studies. Within the fonds of Brandon University, there are relevant sections such as the National Health and Welfare file with correspondences related to health care (1985), the Health and Welfare files (1980-1993) with correspondences and brochures, the Melita Regional Health Clinic (1990-1991) with grant information, Bill C-5 enclosures related to Health and Welfare (1987-1989), and the Great Depression Research Project (1913-1987) consisting of city records related to health, employment, and relief. There are a few records related to Aboriginal studies in this collection, such as the Health and Welfare: Indian Affairs Casework file (1990).
This university notably has the Westman Oral History collection consisting of 335 audio tapes and 310 files, collected between 1980 and 1984, related to the early settlement of the Westman area. The interviews cover topics such as agriculture, religion, cultural practices, health services, and immigration.
