The City of Regina Historical Collection, established in 1985, contains records that highlight the City of Regina’s development, culture, natural and built environment, political life and citizens of the region. The collection contains over 6,000,000 documents (800 linear metres) related to the City of Regina including textual and departmental records, photographs and architectural drawings, highlighting themes in religion, sports, migration and urban dwellings such as Germantown.
The City of Regina Archive houses more than 8,000 sets of architectural plans, posters and drawings related to commercial buildings, private and civic properties and private residences, which date back to the early 1890s. It also houses more than 25, 000 photographic prints, slides and negatives from the early 1880s- 1980s. Some notable collections include the City of Regina Municipal Manuals (1912-1929), Health Department records (1962-), records and reports of the Medical Health Officer (1909- ), Regina General Hospital (1970-) and Health and Relief reports (1893-).
Notable digital collections include Regina-The Early Years, which explores Regina’s history from the 1880s-end of WWII and features approximately 500 textual, photographic and video records.
