The Plants+People exhibition and gardens feature many medicinal plants. The Queen’s Garden contains medicinal plants native to Britain or introduced before 1700; the great greenhouses protect tropical plants from around the world. The Economic Botany Collection (ECB) holds a further 15,000 historic materia medica in a reserve store, accessible by appointment. These date from 1850 to the current day. The ECB database can now be searched online, including images of around 2000 specimens.
