Paris’s interuniversity health library (BIU Santé) holds a collection consisting of more than 100,000 volumes of old and rare books which date back to the 16th century, such as incunabula, manuscripts, dissertations, dictionaries, and journals. Subject strengths include anatomy, botany, dermatology, epidemiology and infectious diseases, homeopathy, history of medicine, ophthalmology, pharmacology, psychology, somatology, and surgery. The library also specializes in digitization, and has published full-text electronic editions of the works of Hippocrates, Galen, and others.
