The WHO archives hold more than 5,000 19th and 20th-century monographs and documents pertaining to public health, as well as (thus far uncatalogued) papers of its predecessor organizations, including the Conférence Sanitaire Internationale, Office international d’hygiène publique, Health Committee on the League of Nations, and League of Nations Health Section. A rare book collection contains material on epidemics, including bubonic plague, cholera, smallpox, and yellow fever, from the 16th century to the present.
